Search & Destroy

3 05 2010

I’ve been in a blogging funk lately.  It’s not that I don’t have anything TO blog…I just haven’t had the desire to actually do it.  Call it being in a rut, or being lazy, or whatever you want.  All I know is two weeks is too long to be in any kind of rut.  To knock myself out of it and get back into blogging, I did what I always do when I’m feeling creatively blocked.  I put on some music and see where it takes me.

Last night I was listening to a cover of the Iggy Pop classic “Search & Destroy” and sifting through my massive inventory.  Lo and behold, a look started to emerge influenced directly by the music blaring in my ears.  It’s a bit glam, a bit punk, a bit rock and a lot fashionista.

Embrace The Future…While You Still Can

2 02 2010

If you haven’t been to the Future Is Now Event by Rezzable yet, you’ve only got two days left to grab some of the amazing cyberglam creations on display there.  This event was right up my alley, and if I’d had the lindens available I would have bought every single thing there.  From cyber-glamourous dresses and jewelry, to space bounty hunter outfits and eye-catching skins, this event has some of the most unique creations I’ve seen in some time.   One of the things that caught my eye was this amazing blue skin from Skin Within designer Ayesha Bisiani called Droe Exotica.  I was very excited when Ayesha offered review copies and so I snagged one immediately.  Unfortunately, as often is the case these days it’s taken me a while to get this post up…but you still have two days to go snag this skin!

Something Wicked This Way Comes

29 10 2009

Thursday, October 29th, at 7 p.m. slt MDR will be throwing their “Something Wicked This Way Comes” party in celebration of the most important holiday of the year: Halloween.  Our affiliate for this month is Rara Avis

I’ve discussed Rara Avis in this blog before (here, here, and here to be exact) and they are one of my favorite design teams.  Nineveh Teskat and Azriel Ballyhoo have amassed an eclectic mix of designs that showcase their talents and eye for detail.  They have both male and female clothing, and even some unisex looks that I think are visually stunning.  But I suppose I could say that about all of their designs.  Two of my all time favorite inventory items are from Rara Avis, which I blogged about in those previous posts…the Unlovely Baby dress and the Arcadia shirt, and I’m not just saying that because it was named after me.  Rhodesy and I are really excited to have these incredibly talented designers sponsoring our Halloween party this year.

And though I have blogged them before, I’d be remiss if I did not show you a couple of the newer releases at Rara Avis, the second of which will be available in an exclusive color for FREE at the MDR party.   But first, I want to show you a design that was released a few months ago: Almost Diamonds.

Can A Vampire Be Kyoot?

25 10 2009

**Edited to correct pose information**

There are times when a certain item immediately catches your eye, and you know instantly what you will do with it.  This happened to me several months ago as I was shopping in Kyoot.  I hadn’t been to Kyoot in quite some time and had decided to go and see what was new.  While shopping, I saw something white out of the corner of my eye and immediately turned and walked toward it.  Before it even finished rezzing, I knew it would be perfect for Halloween.  I was not wrong.  Straight Jacket Surrealist brings the Halloween to Couture. The only thing left to do was buy it and figure out which direction to take.

As I stood in the loft going through my inventory trying on this and that, I began to brainstorm.  My first thought was maybe a Mummy, so I added the Boxer Arm Wraps from Urban Dare.  But then, because this dress has fabulous stitches here and there, I thought it could be used for a fabulously modern twist on Frankenstien’s Bride (I still think that could work).  And then, I began trying on skins.  When I put on the Julana III, Bleeding Hearts by DaeSkins my inner vampire (yes, I do have one) stood up, pointed at that dress and said “This is fabulous and it is MINE!”  And so, vampire it was.
