Arcadia’s Top Five Lingerie Sets of 2009 – #2

31 12 2009

As we near the end of this lingerie countdown, it’s gets harder and harder to make decisions.  There were so many great releases in lingerie this year, and I probably have them all.  It gets especially hard when you love more than one set from a particular designer.  In the end, though, there is always that one set that stands out above the rest.  #2 on our countdown is Lianna by Reasonable Desires.

Arcadia’s Top Five Lingerie Sets of 2009 – #3

30 12 2009

While I spend most of my time on the darker side of fashion, there is a girly, princess side to my personality that will not be ignored.  Never is this more obvious than when I see pretty lingerie with ribbons and bows.  Number 3 on our countdown of Arcadia’s Top Five Lingerie Sets of 2009 is Jolene by Blowpop.

Arcadia’s Top 5 Lingerie Sets of 2009 – #4

29 12 2009

The thing I love most about this little mini countdown of my favorite lingerie sets of 2009 is how different they all are.  And not just different in design; they each evoke a different feeling or mindset.  Good lingerie should help you feel beautiful and sexy, but it can also set a scene in your mind’s eye, and the set at #4  is definitely one of those – Olear by Movin Lingerie.

Arcadia’s Top Five Lingerie Sets of 2009 – #5

28 12 2009

The end of the year is a time to reflect back on the past and look forward to the future.  To that end, there are lots of lists…top ten moments, top ten books, etc.  Since I’ve not done a “Week of Lingerie” in quite some time, I thought it would be fun to take this week and look back at my favorite lingerie sets of 2009.  Starting today, I’ll showcase one set each day for five days.

I’d like to preface this by saying that it is not my intention to imply one designer is better than another.  This is based strictly on MY personal taste and nothing else.  I admire the work of many designers, but to keep this list as short as possible I’m only focusing on those sets that made me say wow; the sets that inspired me to buy every available color; the sets that I wish I had in RL.

We begin our countdown at #5 with Version 12 by WTW.

Happy Holidays!

25 12 2009

Noelle, Noelle

22 12 2009

One of my favorite things about the holiday season is finding those special holiday themed sets that are only available during this final month of the year.  It’s a fun way to treat yourself after all of the hustle & bustle of the season (that you are experiencing in both worlds if your life is anything like mine).  And, of course, a favorite place to find such a fun treat is Reasonable Desires.  One of their newest releases is a holiday take on Burlesque called Miss Noelle.

Donations & Dressing in the Holiday Spirit

12 12 2009

It was around this time last week that my friend and terrific DJ, Maht Wuyts, was in the middle of his 26.2-hour mahrathon set to raise money for Heifer International’s Eastern Uganda Umbrella Project.  It was an extraordinary event and quite possibly the longest dj set in SL history (that we know of anyway).  Maht was hoping to raise 100,000L during the event and I’m happy to say that we surpassed that goal by about 36,000L.  As promised, he’s given me the donation screen shots to share with all of you.

I was awake for a good portion of the overnight hours,  and then again during Saturday afternoon handing out items and generally making sure Maht survived the process.  And despite the crazy hours, I have to say it was a really fun event.  I’m so thankful to have been a part of it and thankful to all of those who donated, no matter the amount.  Raising that much money in SL is not an easy task, and it took the generosity of a lot of people to make it happen.  Maht was able to get some RL donations as well, which he added to the money he raised in world for a grand total of $600 USD.

Maht does plan to do this event again next year, but in the meantime you can catch him every Sunday at the Velvet from 3 -5 p.m. SLT.  Thanks again to all of you who attended, donated money, and to the designers who gave us items to hand out.

Speaking of those designers, one of the people generous enough to give me items specifically was Sanura Snowpaw of Dreams.   She has a ton of great stuff in her store; everything from clothing to collars, shapes to skins.  I was feeling very xmas-y today and on a whim put on my most recent purchase from her store.  It ended up inspiring a whole outfit, which I thought I’d share – a little holiday spirit neko style.
