Valentine Arcadia

14 02 2010

I’ve had a lot of fun putting together some different looks for this Valentine’s Day, and I have one more left that I want to talk about.  Because today is my rl birthday, I thought I’d put together a look that is more me than anything else I’ve done recently.  It is essential Arcadia, a look that is sexy and alluring, but not too revealing.  It is a look that is a bit dark, a bit enigmatic, and also a look of contrasts.  That pretty much sums me up, I think.  Putting this look together was so much fun for me, and the look started with a dress from Gothicatz.

Ballet Gothique

21 10 2009

Sometimes inspiration for the right costume or even the right look can come from those who know you best.  A few weeks ago, I was trying to come up with the perfect outfit to wear to a surprise birthday party for the lovely Saiyge Lotus and was feeling particularly blocked.  It was a Goblin Ball, but not being very goblin-y myself, I decided to just go with something dark.  You’d think that would be relatively easy for me, but I still found myself struggling to come up with something fun and unique.  Enter the wonderful Gabby Panacek, who I was chatting with via IM at the time.  When I told her of my dilemma, she casually suggested I go as a Goth Ballerina.

Cue the light bulbs and fanfare!  That was something I knew I could pull off, which I did.  And, I enjoyed the look so much that I decided to blog it as part of my mix and match Halloween Costume series, with a few slight variations.

Dress Me Up Challenge: Arcadia by Gidge Uriza

24 12 2008

*revised because html hates me*

Gidge said “I want to see you do WARRIOR GODDESS! I’d cruise Fairy’s Grove and Tekeli Li for inspiration.Think……..BREASTPLATE!”

Ask and ye shall recieve, my dear. I give you Arcadia as Warrior Goddess.

I have to thank Gidge for coming up with this idea for the challenge because it gave me an excuse to buy an outfit I’ve been coveting for quite some time; Amazon by GothiCatz. I thought it was lovely the day it came out, and I still adore it. Of course, how often does a photographer need to be wearing a breastplate? And so, I resisted…and resisted…and resisted. But now, thanks to Gidge, it is mine! *cue evil laughter*

Snowy Stage

8 12 2008

I have a love/hate relationship with snow. On the one hand, I think freshly fallen snow (when it’s like six inches deep) is one of the most beautiful sights you’ll ever see on this planet. On the other hand, I absolutely despise driving in it. I am of the firm belief that if it’s going to snow at all, there should be enough of the white stuff on the ground that I don’t have to leave my apartment for a few days. Otherwise, what’s the point?

But there is hope.

The beauty of Second Life is that I can enjoy the snow without having to drive in it, and that’s just what I did a few days ago when wandering around MDR’s new SIM. We have this lovely mountain top area with lots of trees, snow, and even wolves howling in the distance. It’s very picturesque; the perfect stage for the newest GothiCatz outfit.

Riddle Me This

21 09 2008

Last week, while scrolling through, I saw an ad for a limited edition outfit by Riddle. It was made specifically for the Harajuku Fair and was only available for a few days. The outfit, called {After} School Days, was very cute and a little unusual…unusual enough to make me curious to see what else Riddle had to offer. So, of course, I dropped everything and teleported over there.

I was quite impressed. This fun, quirky store has a little bit of everything, and the prices are VERY reasonable. Don’t forget to grab some Cotton Candy on the way in. You’ll be there awhile so snacking is not a bad idea. Plus, it makes for cute photos.
The designer, Chrystina Noel, is willing to give us bloggers an outfit to review, so I contacted her and asked for the {After} School Days. She was quite nice, and I enjoyed talking with her. Once I had the outfit in my inventory, I couldn’t wait to get back to the studio and try it on.
Now, we all know how it is…sometimes you fall in love with something “on the rack” but when you get it home and try it on, you’re left feeling a bit let down. Sometimes the quality isn’t what you’d hoped for or it’s just not flattering to your shape. But then there are the good times, when you get it home, put it on, and the quality is even better than you thought it was going to be. Such is the case with Riddle.
