Search & Destroy

3 05 2010

I’ve been in a blogging funk lately.  It’s not that I don’t have anything TO blog…I just haven’t had the desire to actually do it.  Call it being in a rut, or being lazy, or whatever you want.  All I know is two weeks is too long to be in any kind of rut.  To knock myself out of it and get back into blogging, I did what I always do when I’m feeling creatively blocked.  I put on some music and see where it takes me.

Last night I was listening to a cover of the Iggy Pop classic “Search & Destroy” and sifting through my massive inventory.  Lo and behold, a look started to emerge influenced directly by the music blaring in my ears.  It’s a bit glam, a bit punk, a bit rock and a lot fashionista.

Rockin’ The Runway With Miamai

30 03 2010

Miamai is one of my favorite stores; ranking right up there with Maitreya when it comes to the level of my excitement about a release.  So when I got the notecard that the Spring Collection at Miamai had finally made its debut, you can just imagine how happy I was.  After racing home and logging in, I discovered that monica Outlander had gifted me with a review pack.  I literally jumped out of my chair, that’s how excited I was!  It was like xmas and my birthday all rolled into one little box.

Of course, I dove in and started emptying boxes.  It’s all lovely, and while there are a few things that weren’t really me, most of it was and I’ll be blogging a lot of it over the next few weeks.  It seems only fair to start with the first item that caught my eye:  the Keyn Jacket in Silver.  It was totally love at first sight.

The Kyoot-ness of Miamai

10 03 2010

One of my favorite things about writing this blog is mixing and matching pieces from different designers to create a new look.  It’s probably the main reason I got into blogging in the first place, honestly.  And I’ve not been doing nearly enough of that recently.  To that end, I decided to take my most recent purchase and build an outfit to show all of you.  It all started with the Wool Frill Skirt by Miamai.

Swirly

1 03 2010

When Sascha Frangilli passed me one of her newest releases for review, the name perplexed me a bit.  An outfit that consists of black and houndstooth doesn’t immediately bring the word swirly to mind.  But once I got into the folders and saw the sheer number of mix and match possibilities, I understood a bit better.  Yes, my mind was swirling with all of the style options that Swirly offers you and I had a lot of fun putting different looks together.  For my first look, I wanted to contrast the classic houndstooth pattern of the jacket with a very modern twist.

Blazing a Trail with COCO

5 01 2010

COCO is fast becoming one of my favorite stores.  The love affair started with the Slim Fit pants in silver, continued on through those same pants in every available color, and has now moved forward into every aisle of the store.  The designs of Cocoro Lemon are stylish and varied.  Seriously…I challenge you to go into that store and not find at least one thing that catches your eye.  From shoes and accessories, to separates and dresses; there is a little bit of everything at COCO.

Recently, I snagged this fantastic black bomber jacket.  And when I say fantastic, I mean F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C!  It’s cropped just about the waist and the sculpted attachments add just the right flair.  I love the little details here, especially the tabs on the zippers.  The pushed up sleeves sort of give it an edge, and I decided to take it in the direction of biker chic.
