Search & Destroy

3 05 2010

I’ve been in a blogging funk lately.  It’s not that I don’t have anything TO blog…I just haven’t had the desire to actually do it.  Call it being in a rut, or being lazy, or whatever you want.  All I know is two weeks is too long to be in any kind of rut.  To knock myself out of it and get back into blogging, I did what I always do when I’m feeling creatively blocked.  I put on some music and see where it takes me.

Last night I was listening to a cover of the Iggy Pop classic “Search & Destroy” and sifting through my massive inventory.  Lo and behold, a look started to emerge influenced directly by the music blaring in my ears.  It’s a bit glam, a bit punk, a bit rock and a lot fashionista.

Waterfall

28 03 2010

While going through my inventory last night, I realized that I’d meant to blog the Waterfall gown from Sascha’s Designs last week.  Alas, my rl work schedule got in the way.  But I decided to go ahead and blog it now because better late than never, right?  That should so be the tagline for this blog.

Clothing Fair: A Peek Into The Future With KWZ

20 03 2010

Clothing Fair is coming to an end; only two more days left to go and grab those fabulous RFL items and other goodies and discover new stores and designers.  Another of my new finds from the Tokyo SIM is KWZ and I grabbed their Orient LeM dress as soon as it rezzed.

Add My Name To The List

17 03 2010

I’m taking a short break from the Clothing Fair posts to share the news with all of you.  It’s official:  I have been + blacklisted +.

We all knew it would happen eventually.

I’ve been watching Gauge Lavilles’ store since it first opened, waiting ever so patiently for him to design the one shirt that called my name. Or in this case, maybe screamed is a better term.  And when I saw this particular shirt released this week, I knew it was the one that would get me + blacklisted +.

Clothing Fair: Exploring New Cultures With Milky House

16 03 2010

Another great thing about Clothing Fair is being exposed to designers/styles that you wouldn’t normally see everyday in your second life.  It’s a great opportunity to find great new designers and see what’s going on fashion wise in the lands outside of our comfort zone.  And that is exactly what happened to me when I stumbled into the Tokyo SIM and found myself standing in the Milky House store.  This mini kimono was so cute; I just had to have it.

Clothing Fair: Celebrating With Baiastice

15 03 2010

Speaking of Baiastice, you can find them on the Milan SIM at Clothing Fair this year.  I’m always excited to go into the shops of designers I know and see what’s new and what they have in their RFL vendors.  After all, this is a charity event and I while I like to dress well, I also enjoy donating to a charity like the American Cancer Society.  100% of the proceeds from these special vendors will be donated and that’s really something to celebrate.  Baiastice has two such vendors this year and I could not resist purchasing the Elegantes Plumes in Midnight.  And this is definitely a dress to celebrate in.

Clothing Fair: A Night Out With EarthStones

14 03 2010

As you have probably heard by now, Clothing Fair began this weekend.  If you’ve not braved the lag, I urge you to de-prim and teleport over there to check it out.  There are eight different sims for you to wander through.  This year, they are built to look like different cities around the world.  As if the fabulous shopping wasn’t enough to entice you, the builds are really stunning.  I couldn’t pick a favorite city if you asked me to; each one definitely had it’s own character.

With eight full sims of shopping, you can imagine the long list of designers participating this year.  And, of course, Clothing Fair is really about raising money for the American Cancer Society.  One of the things I love about SL is our ability to raise large amounts of money for a cause without any one person having to stretch their budget.  Clothing Fair is a wonderful example of this generosity.  Most designers have special items in the RFL vendors, with all of the proceeds from those sales being donated.  Also, many designers are using this event to debut new pieces to the public.

One of the new items being debuted this year is a gorgeous new jewelry set from EarthStones called Zahra. Abraxxa Anatine was kind enough to send over a review copy the other night and I couldn’t wait to build a look with it.
