Getting Into Trouble

5 04 2010

This is not a typical blog post…

Steeling my nerves, I opened the door of the A-1 Detective Agency and stepped across the threshold, eyes zeroing in on the man I was here to see.  He was sitting behind a desk, shirt only half buttoned but his hat still firmly in place.  I blinked once, twice and then shut the door firmly, striding over to stand in front of the desk.  He didn’t even look up from the stack of papers he was signing.  I gripped the belt ties of my trench coat and waited for him to acknowledge my presence in the room.  And he would acknowledge me.  I was, after all, standing in front of his desk.  Besides, if all else failed, what I was wearing underneath this coat was sure to get his attention.

My hands tightened on the ties as he finally looked up with a raised eyebrow.

“You lost, doll?” His tone was far less helpful than his words.

I shook my head, trying to remain calm and collected, but truth was he made me a little nervous.  Okay, a lot nervous.  He was so much more…male than I expected him to be.  Tall, dark, and handsome was the cliché that came to mind, but with a healthy does of mysterious and sexy to round out the equation.  Why, oh why did I have to be attracted to him?  This would make what I had to do that much harder in the long run.  “I need your help.”

Rockin’ The Runway With Miamai

30 03 2010

Miamai is one of my favorite stores; ranking right up there with Maitreya when it comes to the level of my excitement about a release.  So when I got the notecard that the Spring Collection at Miamai had finally made its debut, you can just imagine how happy I was.  After racing home and logging in, I discovered that monica Outlander had gifted me with a review pack.  I literally jumped out of my chair, that’s how excited I was!  It was like xmas and my birthday all rolled into one little box.

Of course, I dove in and started emptying boxes.  It’s all lovely, and while there are a few things that weren’t really me, most of it was and I’ll be blogging a lot of it over the next few weeks.  It seems only fair to start with the first item that caught my eye:  the Keyn Jacket in Silver.  It was totally love at first sight.

Add My Name To The List

17 03 2010

I’m taking a short break from the Clothing Fair posts to share the news with all of you.  It’s official:  I have been + blacklisted +.

We all knew it would happen eventually.

I’ve been watching Gauge Lavilles’ store since it first opened, waiting ever so patiently for him to design the one shirt that called my name. Or in this case, maybe screamed is a better term.  And when I saw this particular shirt released this week, I knew it was the one that would get me + blacklisted +.

Clothing Fair: A Night Out With EarthStones

14 03 2010

As you have probably heard by now, Clothing Fair began this weekend.  If you’ve not braved the lag, I urge you to de-prim and teleport over there to check it out.  There are eight different sims for you to wander through.  This year, they are built to look like different cities around the world.  As if the fabulous shopping wasn’t enough to entice you, the builds are really stunning.  I couldn’t pick a favorite city if you asked me to; each one definitely had it’s own character.

With eight full sims of shopping, you can imagine the long list of designers participating this year.  And, of course, Clothing Fair is really about raising money for the American Cancer Society.  One of the things I love about SL is our ability to raise large amounts of money for a cause without any one person having to stretch their budget.  Clothing Fair is a wonderful example of this generosity.  Most designers have special items in the RFL vendors, with all of the proceeds from those sales being donated.  Also, many designers are using this event to debut new pieces to the public.

One of the new items being debuted this year is a gorgeous new jewelry set from EarthStones called Zahra. Abraxxa Anatine was kind enough to send over a review copy the other night and I couldn’t wait to build a look with it.

Fade To Grey

12 03 2010

Most people probably don’t think of grey when you mention spring, instead calling the brighter shades of nature to mind.  However, one of my favorite things about spring is the beginning of storm season.  Those tumultuous grey skies, cool rain, and the light show that is nature at her best, or worst depending on your view.  And because I love the color grey for spring looks, I was delighted to see that some of the newest releases from L`Abel were indeed made in this lovely shade.
