Fade To Grey

Most people probably don’t think of grey when you mention spring, instead calling the brighter shades of nature to mind.  However, one of my favorite things about spring is the beginning of storm season.  Those tumultuous grey skies, cool rain, and the light show that is nature at her best, or worst depending on your view.  And because I love the color grey for spring looks, I was delighted to see that some of the newest releases from L`Abel were indeed made in this lovely shade.

L`Abel will release its Spring Collection this Saturday, March 13th, and Neferia Abel was kind enough to send me a few review copies to look at.  I was drawn instantly to the Mari Cardigan and immediately set out to build a look with it.  This lovely striped cardigan is perfect for those cool spring days.  The rose prim attachment on the collar gives this piece a very vintage feel.  Of course, if you want to run a bit more modern with it you can leave that off.  But, the vintage aesthetic is part of what makes this so fun…and I rarely go vintage.  It also comes with a very cute prim attachment that you can wear as well, for a cuter, flowier look.

I paired the cardigan with another new release from L`Abel: the Ulla grey sweater.  It goes perfectly with this cardigan, being a slightly lighter shade of grey than the cardigan and I love the print on this. It ties in perfectly.  I knew I wanted a very casual spring look, so I decided on a pair of black capri pants from Whippet & Buck. (Thanks, plurk friends!)  These capri pants are very simple, yet still very chic.  And they sit a bit higher on the waist, which I needed to go with this shirt, otherwise I’d be showing a bare midriff.  Normally, that wouldn’t be a problem, but showing my avs belly button wasn’t really going to work with the vintage feel of this look.

For shoes, I went with the classic Shanti shoes by Maitreya Gold.  No, they’re not really vintage, but I liked them with the capri pants and they are chic enough to work with the overall look.  I also added the Fundo belt from UZURI because I liked the design and the splash of gold was a nice contrast to break up the head to toe monochromatic scheme.  I kept the jewelry simple going with pieces from Dark Mouse and Kraftika to round out the look.  Oh, and speaking of that vintage feel, I decided to take that up a notch by adding the Stage Props 2 hair from Hair[OH].  I adore this hair with its cute little hat and the large rose on the side tied it back into the cardigan perfectly.

Spring doesn’t have to be all about bright colors and L`Abel shows us that beautifully with these lovely grey pieces from their new Spring Collection.  If you’re looking for great spring casual pieces for mixing and matching, be sure to go peek at the new collection on Saturday.
