Clothing Fair: Exploring New Cultures With Milky House

16 03 2010

Another great thing about Clothing Fair is being exposed to designers/styles that you wouldn’t normally see everyday in your second life.  It’s a great opportunity to find great new designers and see what’s going on fashion wise in the lands outside of our comfort zone.  And that is exactly what happened to me when I stumbled into the Tokyo SIM and found myself standing in the Milky House store.  This mini kimono was so cute; I just had to have it.

I’m really not an expert on Kimonos.  I can’t tell you the history or what’s new and what’s traditional.  I also know nothing about Japanese culture or fashion so I really don’t know if this is part of a certain fashion trend or if it’s just fun.  However, I do suspect that this particular style is a more modern interpretation of a kimono.  Also, I can tell you with absolute certainty that the Hana Asobi Mini is fantastic.  It’s fun, flirty, elegant, and exotic all rolled into one cute little package.  I chose the black and white version but it comes in other color options if you’d like something a bit brighter.

The Hana Asobi kimono is made up almost entirely of prim pieces.  Because of this, it was a tad difficult to shoot, having to adjust prims here and there every time I changed poses.  And as you can see in some of the photos, I sort of just gave up and shot it anyway.  And why did I shoot it anyway?  Because it’s so damn cute I couldn’t stop taking pictures!  I adore it.  I absolutely adore it.  The texture is lovely and it comes with this lovely rose hat to coordinate with the roses on the texture of the outfit.  The hat comes on two different attachment pointed to allow you to accessorize more freely.  The stockings are also included.

For my look, I added the McQueen Rose Boots from the Heroes of Fashion event.  I love, love, love these boots.  Actually, I bought these at the same time I got the McQueen Goth Boots from the same event.  Anytime Cajsa IM’s me and wants to show me shoes, I know my linden balance is in trouble.  They are perfect with this look, though.  The rose on the boots ties into the roses on the outfit and the boots themselves add a bit of a darker edge to the look.

The hair is the same one I blogged on Sunday:  Model Hair 14 by WAKA & yuki.  I went light on the accessories and just added the “I don’t care” piercing by [skream!] and the Nightlife diamond earrings and ring from alaMood.  I really like this new set from alaMood.  If I had more attachment points, I’d be wearing the necklace too.

I know I’ve said it several times in this post but this look is just so cute!  I’m really glad I stepped out of my comfort zone and bought this mini kimono from Milky House.  As your perusing the different vendors at Clothing Fair, see what new and unusual item grabs your attention and go for it.
