Fit For A Queen

7 04 2010

Agnes Finney created a gorgeous dress called Mayur for the charity event “For The Love of McQueen” that ran all through March.  If you didn’t get a chance to see that or pick it up, you can still grab it in her store, My Precious by Agnes Finney.  Now that the event is over, however, Agnes has created another version of the Mayur dress: Queen Mayur Grandeur.

Before we look at that let’s revisit the original Mayur for a moment.

Mayur was one of my favorite pieces from the McQueen event.  It is a gorgeous dress, so classically feminine and intricately designed.  The designs of Alexander McQueen have always been among my favorites in fashion.  His utterly unique creative vision was always awe-inspiring.  Mayur is a fitting tribute because it draws inspiration from McQueen’s’ unique aesthetic but re-imagines it in a new light.  The skirt on this dress moves beautifully, as you can see in the photo below and I really love the feather overlay on the skirt.  They too move softly as you walk or dance and create a lovely swirly effect.  I also love the bodice on this; classic lines with such a gorgeous pattern.

And now we also get the newest version, Queen Mayur Grandeur.  This dress is very aptly named, I believe.  This is NOT a princess dress.  By taking the Mayur dress and adding yards of train and full skirts, Agnes Finney has created a dress for a Queen.

This is a showstopper of a dress; one you shouldn’t wear unless you want to be noticed by everyone in the room.  The train of feathers and fabric doesn’t just move softly as you do, it floats in the air like, well like a feather would.   The front of the dress remains a bit shorter, adding a flair of drama fit for the runway.

Because this dress is so stunning, the jewelry had to be equally as powerful.  The Mayur set by Alienbear’s Designs was also created for the McQueen event last month and was made specifically to go with the dress by Agnes Finney.  It is beyond beautiful with the richness of the black and the feather design to compliment the dress…this is one of my favorite sets by Alienbear Gupte and it’s even lovelier when paired with the dress it was meant for.

If you missed the McQueen event last month, don’t worry.  You can still get the Mayur dress and now you can also get the newest version.  You’ll definitely be the Queen of any court in this stunning design.
