Can A Vampire Be Kyoot?

25 10 2009

**Edited to correct pose information**

There are times when a certain item immediately catches your eye, and you know instantly what you will do with it.  This happened to me several months ago as I was shopping in Kyoot.  I hadn’t been to Kyoot in quite some time and had decided to go and see what was new.  While shopping, I saw something white out of the corner of my eye and immediately turned and walked toward it.  Before it even finished rezzing, I knew it would be perfect for Halloween.  I was not wrong.  Straight Jacket Surrealist brings the Halloween to Couture. The only thing left to do was buy it and figure out which direction to take.

As I stood in the loft going through my inventory trying on this and that, I began to brainstorm.  My first thought was maybe a Mummy, so I added the Boxer Arm Wraps from Urban Dare.  But then, because this dress has fabulous stitches here and there, I thought it could be used for a fabulously modern twist on Frankenstien’s Bride (I still think that could work).  And then, I began trying on skins.  When I put on the Julana III, Bleeding Hearts by DaeSkins my inner vampire (yes, I do have one) stood up, pointed at that dress and said “This is fabulous and it is MINE!”  And so, vampire it was.

Down The Rabbit Hole

30 05 2009

blog_060 copy

From dark in the last post to light in this one; a graveyard to a field of flowers.  That’s why it’s called Fashion 360° I guess.

I don’t normally do cute, girly costumes, but this new release from Reasonable Desires called “Oh Alice!” will have to be the exception to my rule.  It’s Alice all grown up and sexy so how could I say no?  Besides, how fun would it be to go around hunting for those looking glasses while dressed in this Alice outfit?  (Though Reasonable Desires does have a looking glass for you to find.)

The Dichotomy of Arcadia…and other newness.

18 04 2009

A few weeks ago, I posted about the Tear You Apart shirt by Rara Avis called Prep School Punk in which I raved about how much I adore said shirt. The one down side I described was that it didn’t come in more colors because I wanted more of them.  Well, Azriel Ballyhoo, the designer, saw my post and contacted me to tell me that I had inspired her to make more of these fantastic little shirts.  She had been thinking of it for awhile, but my post got her motivated again.  I am so happy that I inspired this wonderful designer to add more options for this super sexy shirt.  She is releasing five new versions today and, of course, I am going to show them all to you.  This is probably going to be the longest post ever posted, especially if you are reading this on one of the feeds.  But, I think it’s worth it.  Ready?

Mix and Match The Night Away!

14 04 2009

I’ve given up on doing the entire Bunny Hop Hunt for several reasons.  It’s just too big and too hard and my inventory is already too chaotic to add another 200+ items that it will take me months to sort through.  So I asked myself which stores I’d be sad to miss and just hopped to those places.  One of those places was Baiastice.

I’ve always thought Baiastice to be one of the most interesting stores on the Grid, and I tend to have very strong reactions to the designs of Sissy Pessoa.  There is no internal debate for me while shopping there.  If I own it, it was an instant “I love it and must have it right now” decision.   And I’m always excited to find new stuff out at Baiastice because there is the possibility that she’s done something that will blow me away.  Imagine my delight to have stumbled upon an entire area of new stuff (well new to me, anyway) while hunting for yet another elusive easter egg.  It was an area of mix and match seperates that I was really excited to see at Baiastice.  And, of course, a few things immediately grabbed my attention.  The first was this lovely, soft silk top.

Girl on Film

31 03 2009

One of the things I really enjoy about the show Make Me A Supermodel is the runway challenge at the end of each episode. They always come up with interesting looks for the models to work with;  some more difficult than others. But it’s as much fun to see how the models will be styled as it is to critique their walks. After all, a model’s job on the Runway isn’t just to look good. It’s to look good and showcase the design well.

With that in mind, I gave myself a little challenge. I wanted to create a look (or two) reminiscent of the sometimes arty, sometimes outrageous styles I’ve seen on Make Me A Supermodel. That sounded too easy though, so I decided to create these looks wearing only items in my inventory that I’d never worn before. I’m not just talking never blogged before, either. I mean those items that I’ve bought/received as gifts or review items and just either forgot about or haven’t had the occassion to wear. We all have those pieces languishing forgotten in the depths of our inventories, I’m sure, and I thought it was high time to dust mine off. This does not include shape, however cause I only have the one, and I like it.

During this same time, I got an invite to the Corrupted Innocence SIM opening, and I took some time to go check it out. It’s a gorgeously done build, really, with lots of fabulous designers showcasing their collections. Everything from poses, skins, and shapes to clothes and shoes; it’s all there for your shopping pleasure.  It’s laid out well, too.  I don’t know about you, but a badly designed floor plan can make me crazy when I’m out and about shopping.  There were many great items for us bloggers–very generous of all the store owners there–and I snagged a few of them to use for this little personal challenge of mine.
