When my new friend DavidThomas Scobal contacted me to tell me about his creation, I was really excited to try it out.  A HUD that lets you use your own no trans poses on someone else?  I’ve wanted something like this since I first started taking photos in SL.  And while I find it terribly ironic that it’s being released the same week I close my photo studio, I am extremely thankful for its existence.

To test it out, I took the lovely Kyria Tomsen to Bon Temps, La (the True Blood SIM) and snapped some fun photos in the graveyard.

The PoseAnywhere HUD is very simple to use.  In fact, I’m not sure it could be any easier to operate.  You basically rez it, throw the poses in it, and attach it.  That’s it.  It’s also copyable so you can make as many of them as you want for easy pose organization. 

Here is a screen shot of what the HUD looks like when you’re wearing it.  You have the option of posing yourself or selecting a model to pose.  Also, I love that the HUD displays the name of the model AND the name of the pose.  That is especially important for us bloggers who always credit the poses in our posts.

When you select the pose a model option, you’ll get a pop up with the avatar names of the people in your vicinity.  Simply select your model, wait for them to give you the permission, and start posing them with your own poses.  No more hoping a model has the pose you’re looking for!

Once I had Kyria in a pose, I asked her to walk around a bit to make sure you could still adjust things after you’ve started the HUD.  After all, sometimes you get the shot lined up and you just need the model to move that extra inch over, right?  Thankfully, Kyria had no problems moving about in the pose.  Score one more point for the PoseAnywhere HUD.

Another thing I wanted to test was the ability to use multiple HUDs during a shoot.  I am a huge fan of the FilterCam HUD and it is very rare for me to do a shoot without using it at least once.  Because of this, I wanted to see how I could use them both.  I knew I couldn’t attach them at the same time, so I took off the PoseAnywhere HUD and attached the FilterCam.  Kyria stayed in the same pose while I used the FilterCam HUD with no problem.  When I was finished, I put the PoseAnywhere HUD back on and moved her into the next pose effortlessly.  It was as if I’d never taken the HUD off.  Words cannot express how fantastic that is.

If you are a photographer or just want to take photos of you friends for fun, the PoseAnywhere HUD at Essential Soul Studios is a definite must have.  It’s easy to use, versatile in that you can pose yourself or a model, copyable so you can organize your poses, and reasonably priced.  Oh, and let us not forget the free updates!  I’m not sure you could ask for anything more.

Last night I was listening to a cover of the Iggy Pop classic “Search & Destroy” and sifting through my massive inventory.  Lo and behold, a look started to emerge influenced directly by the music blaring in my ears.  It’s a bit glam, a bit punk, a bit rock and a lot fashionista. 

The idea for the look actually started with these fantastic glasses from [glow] Studios.  The Shutter Shades come in day and night versions (I’m wearing night here) and are super cheap.  You can find them in The Dressing Room, the special place where designers put fantastic items up at super great prices.  I decided I wanted an edgy short hairstyle so I grabbed the Minako hair from Kin.  The headband comes in a print but I tinted it black for this look. 

For the actual body of the look, I grabbed the fabulous Brit Pants by Leezu Baxter.  I love the gorgeous texture on these pants and the little embellishments along the leg.  But the ruffles on the bottom were kind of throwing me a bit, so I took them off and added the Prestige Boots from Bax Coen.  The top is actually part of the Shredded dress from The Plastik.  I love the idea of a shredded shirt.  It’s incredibly sexy without being too much.  Also, I thought the combination of the torn shirt with those gorgeous pants was an interesting aesthetic.  I then added the Nine jacket from Emery for more of a rocker type look.

For the finishing touches, I added the new Chandraki set from Earthstones in Onyx/Silver.  I absolutely love this set.  It’s so chic and pretty but still unusual enough to work with a look like this.  I also added the Beautiful Slave Bracelets from Earthstones for a fun touch.  And we can’t forget this fantastic belt – it’s the Asaka belt from Digit Darkes.  I bought this ages ago and I think it’s the first time I’ve worn it.  It was the perfect piece to finish off my Rocker Chick look.

An outfit inspired by a song.  I like to think my attempt to break out of my blogging slump was successful, but only time will tell.  And, for your listening pleasure I’ve included a link to the song that inspired this look.

This blouse is very glam.  The shiny material plays nicely against the cream colored ruffles down the center and I adore the tiny buttons in the middle.  There are prim attachments for the ruffles, which I am wearing in these photos.  You could certainly leave them off if you so desired, though.  Oh, and I love the dots across the fabric, especially on the back.  Speaking of which, the back of this blouse is incredibly sexy; the combination of the strap and the ties around the neck add even more flair to this piece.

I have to be honest here, though.  It took me quite a lot of time to mix and match this look into existence.  This blouse is incredibly lovely, but I had a hard time finding anything that could stand up to the magnificence of the shirt and still match the color scheme without being way over the top.  And when I say a lot of time, I mean hours. 

All good things come to those who wait, I suppose because in the end, I was quite satisfied with the look I managed to create.  I paired the Mailiin blouse with the Corset Overall from Cynful and the Zipper Booties from COCO.

For jewelry, I added the Arion necklace from Aluinn, a silver cuff from Balderdash, and a fun piercing from [skream!] .  The hair is from Magika, Robin in the LeLook exclusive color.  And for just a bit more drama, I added the new Fux gloves from Miamai in black.

I’m calling this look Edgy Glam and I absolutely adore it. Make sure you head over to Leezu and pick up this new blouse. It’s simply stunning and, though it could be a challenge to mix and match depending on your inventory, it’s certainly worth the effort.

While I check to make sure Gabby didn’t just faint at the title of this post, you should probably know that today is Pink Shirt Day!  This is an effort, both rl and sl, to raise awareness for the Anti-Bullying Campaign.  Several SL designers have released special items and gifts to show their support.     And though it is Pink Shirt day, not all of these items are shirts.  There are poses, jewelry, and other stuff for you to snag as well.

I wanted to do something a bit different for the blog post, because who wants to see me in a pink shirt besides Gabby?   Instead, I gathered some plurk friends and snapped a quick photo of us wearing some of the items you can get today.  And while my avatar does look a bit sad in the back there, I promise it’s not because of the pink shirt!  Several fantastic designers have stuff out today including A-Bomb, Dreams, Glitterati, Long Awkward Pose, BOOM, and more.  A partial list will be at the bottom of this post instead of the usual model info.  (Did you see how many people are in that photo?) Bullying happens every day, and though this event started because of an incident with a 9^th grade boy, bullying happens to all ages and all types of people.  I’m sure we’ve even seen instances of bullying in SL.  So help make a difference by grabbing a pink shirt and standing up with your friends to say enough is enough.

If you missed the Avenue For The Love of McQueen event last month, have no fear.  Another fantastic designer has put her contribution up for sale in store. If you’re a fan of Alexander McQueen or Goth Couture, tp over to House of RFyre and pick up Raven Pennyfeather’s contribution to the event:  For The Love of McQueen.

I’ve said this before because, as you know if you read this blog regularly, I own a LOT of RFyre designs.  But I think it bears repeating:  Raven Pennyfeather is one of the best designers on the grid.  Just when I think she has created something that can’t be topped, that will be my ultimate RFyre favorite, she releases something that just completely blows me away.  For The Love of McQueen is such a dress.  To say it is stunning would be an understatement.  The textures are gorgeous, as always, and I especially love the silky look of the slightly billowing sleeves.  The belts placed strategically on the arms are a nice touch and gives the dress a bit of edgy fabulousness.

I also love the hat, and I’m generally not a hat kind of girl.  The black top hat with the lovely veil hanging off the back gives the look a sense of drama all with a nod to the Goth aesthetic of the dress.  The skirt moves so slowly and delicately as you walk, it is reminiscent of a lover’s caress…the slow, sensual slide of a hand as he/she learns the curve of your hip, the shape of your legs.

The dress does come with a leather jacket as well, but I decided to not wear it for this particular shoot.  I paired the dress with the McQueen Rose Boots that I bought at the Heroes of Fashion event.  They were perfect with this dress, and I like that the skirt isn’t so long it covers them up. Boots that fabulous should be seen, after all.  I didn’t really accessorize the look.  It came with a lovely choker and with the hat; so earrings wouldn’t really be seen anyway.

It’s very easy to see the McQueen influence in this design and I think it’s a perfect tribute to his creativity and artistry.  I am, also, a hundred percent positive that my photos and words do not do this dress justice.  Go buy it for yourself, put it on, and fall in love.
